JAPAN music workshops

There can never be too much Taiko drumming! This workshop has a rotating drumming game that children love and then it’s back to calm with our string instruments, harp and fans.

An energetic workshop with the option for performances to parents and peers.

The thunderous fun of of Taiko drums. With the ingredients of Team work, martial arts, dance and mental focus, Taiko do (the way of drumming) offers a great way for children to experience those cultural Japanese aspects, and we can do this through our special fun Taiko games and performable pieces.

Children see and then eagerly aspire to be like the trained disciplined drummers of Japan.

Fan dancing to the sound of the Koto (harp) and shakuhachi (bamboo flute) gives us an elegant way to then step towards to a more zen like peace!

“I am writing to say a huge thank you to Angela and Storme from Earth Song Music workshops. They came to our school this week to deliver a Japanese drumming workshop. It was truly amazing. The amount of detail and planning that had clearly gone into their workshop was impressive. It was colourful, exciting and totally interactive. Our school is a school for pupils aged 11-19 on the Autistic Spectrum. This makes change of routine, new faces and experiences very distressing for them at times. This was not the case on Monday. We had full attendance in the workshop and almost full participation. Angela and Storm knew instinctively how to engage our pupils and after the noise and excitement of the drums they moved straight into a calming and therapeutic section with the koto and flute. It was enchanting and beautiful to see some of the pupils taking part in a dance with umbrellas and fans. We would definitely recommend this workshop to anyone and we will certainly be working with them again next year. Thank you from all staff and pupils at Barbara Priestman School, Sunderland”
